Papagayo Fishing Charter was the best decision we made. Greyvin and Jeremy were great! We caught Bonita, Rooster fish AND a Sailfish! It was the fishing trip of a lifetime. When we return to Costa Rica, we will book another fishing trip with them. We HIGHLY recommend this family owned business.

Before we were fishing Now we are catching
The captain and crew did an amazing job maneuvering through rough seas and using the out riggers and live bait to guarantee a catch!! We caught two and released sailfish weighing around 85 lbs! We also caught 4 Mahi Mahi so everyone was eating a great dinner that evening Plenty of food and drinks supplied and no language barrier. Would recommend the Dream fishing boat to get out of the sun or rain with plenty of coverage!

Amazing day!
We went on board the Chila with Jose's brother in law Lino and his son Daniel. It was a great experience! I was nervous because we were going with our two young kids (5 and 9 years old) , but the boat was more than enough, snacks and drinks too. The best part was that we caught a huge marlin! Guided by both Daniel and Lino we fought with it for almost an hour! We will never forget this experience!

Jose was great. We slayed fish all day. We were super happy. Jose even helped us find a restaurant to hold and cook all of our fish for the week. I would definitely recommend.Deanie517 - Inshore/Trolling Trip
Unfortunately, our trip was not one to brag about. We spent 8 hrs on a boat without much action at all. The 3 times we did manage to get something hooked, the line broke every time. The equipment did not seem up-to-date and the Captain and crew member were polite, but not interactive at all. Very low-energy trip. Communication was definitely an issue so it was a very long day. The highlight was lunch on the beach which really was excellent. It was a windy day and fishing is always hit or miss.

Highly RECOMMEND using them. Captain Jose Mendez and his son Jeremy were awesome. They emailed back very promptly. Very happy with their efforts and service. Fishing is really based on luck but with experienced team, and how hard they try to work to get you fish, gives you the best chance. My 8 yo boy and I went with them end of May/begin of june, they picked us up right at the beach in front of our hotel Riu Guanacaste. We went In- Shore fishing, by rocks and a few miles out bc of time of year with rain and current. We got a a beautiful huge Pompano that my boy had a blast catching. We caught our live bait small bonito to go for Rooster Fish. I got one, and it fought so hard and just beautiful fish. Also got some black tuna and small mahi-mahi. Captain Jose Mendez and his two boys run the boats. Fantastic family business and they change up the fishing scene if not biting. They do NOT just stay in one spot. They move around to help find fish for you. We did half day trip on their smaller Bahama boat which had nice extended shaded area. Absolute Blast!!!! I will be using them again when I go back to Costa Rica

Liars and thieves. We bought 2 boats for off-shore fishing. The Brindisi showed up with only one working engine, so both boats just trolled us around about 5 miles from the hotel. When I told Jose what happened he first lied saying that was offshore, but the web sites specifically say the offshore is 20+ miles out, at the continental shelf edge. There is not time to tell whole story but do not use these guys, they just want your $$$.

Being from Charleston SC, I've offshore/inshore fished all my life. and fished all over the world with guides as well. Capt Jose Mendez & mate were knowledgeable and hard working and put me on fish, We caught Yellow fin tuna's & Roosters(and some skip jacks) It"s called fishing- not catching..So... what matters to me is a good Capt, good mate, good boat,and good equipment, and fresh bait !! And I got all that, and catching fish to me was a bonus. I felt safe, and as if i were with old friends. I would fish with him again. I cant say that for some others i've fished with. Pura Vida !!

Captain Jesus, Oscar and Kevin picked us up at Flamingo Marina and off we went. After a slow morning the Dorado started hitting. After a couple of hits and two good size ones caught and cleaned we went back in for Rooster Fish. 5 hits and three catches including an 80+LBS one! The crew was professional, positive and very experienced. Plenty of food and beverages. I had a great time and an outstanding meal the night for sure!Christinamontalbo. - Awesome fishing trip... We went out with hopes of a sailfish and ended up catching 3! We had a triple hook up and brought two of them in early into the trip. Later we got a third. It was a great trip. Misa and Carlos were great!
dankeener - Great crew and nice, clean boat... Captain Jose and mate Jonathan really went out of their way to get us on some fish. We ended up with two real nice Roosterfish. We had a ball, and the guys were great.
