Gulf Papagayo & Fishing
The Gulf of Papagayo is located in Guanacaste, on the Northwest of Costa Rica, it is a place to enjoy white sand beaches and Sport Fishing as the most important activity on the Pacific coast, this activity takes place throughout the year; due in its waters there are territorial and migratory species suitable for Sport Fishing.
Sport Fishing in the Gulf of Papagayo is top quality, many visitors come year after year in search of action to catch the trophy fish they have always dreamed of; you can fish on Inshore for Roosterfish and Yellowfin Tuna, Mahi-mahi, also, do Bottom fishing for snapper.
Fishing for Sailfish and Marlin occurs in Offshore and crystalline water.

Guanacaste Costa Rica
The Province of Guanacaste is one of the most interesting places to visit in Costa Rica, there are many towns along its plains, one of the most recognized are Playas del Coco, Tamarindo and Playa Flamingo and Liberia city. Guanacaste is located in the Northeast of Costa Rica, bordering Nicaragua and the Pacific Ocean, where it is located on the Gulf of Papagayo, rated for its unmatched beauty where there are dream beaches and amazing Sport Fishing.
FISHING IN PAPAGAYO
The Gulf of Papagayo, a place for many species of Deep-sea and Inshore fishing, since it is rich in plankton. Sport Fishing occurs throughout the year for Roosterfish and other seasonal fish such as skip jack, horse mackerel, among others. The Sailfish, striped, black, or blue marlin and the Roosterfish are present all year round. Yellowfin tuna wahoo and Dorado are migratory fish and are a target in Sport Fishing in the Gulf of Papagayo.
Inshore Fishing for Roosters
To know more about Roosterfishing. It is year-round, with ups and downs in their catch, depending on the tides and currents, different water temperatures. We don’t have Tarpon fish in the Pacific coast, but we do have Roosters with an average size of 40 to 60 pounds, which can give you up to 30 minutes of fighting. Persistence in pursuit of a Roosterfish is worth the effort!

WHAT TIME IS THE DEPARTURE FOR FISHING?
Every Sportfishing charter in Papagayo starts at 7:30am and we come back depending on the charter that you are doing. If it is full day 8hrs, you return at. 3:30pm. If 3/4 day 6hrs, you return 1:30pm. If 1/2 day, you return by noon.
CAN WE SHIP OUR FISH BACK HOME?
Experience for our clients who have been fishing, can say that they have been able to ship it back home. I think if it is frozen and packed safely you could do it.
WHAT TYPE OF CHARTERS BESIDE FISHING DO YOU DO AT PAPAGAYO GULF?

IS THERE A REFUND IN CASE THE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE BAD?

WHERE DO WE GO FOR FISHING?
There are many different fishing spots: Gulf of Papagayo, Bat Islands, Catalinas island, offshore, inshore: From 10 minutes boat ride to the first place for rooster fishing to 1:00hr boat ride for deep sea fishing.
ARE THE PRICES PER BOAT OR PERSON?
The boats indicate a maximum number of people that can be comfortable on board, prices are established per boat and not per person, some large boats can accommodate up to 12 px, and other small ones with a maximum of 4px, depending on the size.
HOW DO WE PAY THE DEPOSIT FOR ANY RESERVATION, AND HOW MUCH?
It requires from $100 or more, it will depend on the size of the boat, there are different forms of payment. PayPal, you can also send us your information on the card via email, or can give us that information via cell phone.
WHAT DO WE NEED TO BRING ON OUR FISHING CHARTER?
It is important that you dress accordingly to the fishing conditions. Our boats include all necessary for a fishing charter, but, however we have a few tips of what to carry with you on board. Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, camera, shoes are optional, clothes to protect from the sun.
WHAT DOES THIS CHARTER INCLUDES?
For your comfort and privacy all our boats are provided onboard with stocked coolers with fruit, soft drinks, cold beer, snacks & lunch on a full day fishing! All these boats are provided with fishing rods, bait and lures, plus a mate to assist you in the catch, release or cleaning your fish to go. Every boat is provided with a toilet onboard.
DO YOU PICK US UP AT OUR HOTEL?
If you have already your fishing reservation with us, you don’t need to drive to us! Papagayo Fishing can pick you up at the beach from your resort, so, if you are staying at a private village or hotel, we will coordinate with you the pick up time by boat at the nearest beach to you.
